This is another a short one: Buttermilk died yesterday.
A few weeks ago, he began having skin problems. Yesterday morning I took him to the vet, where his problem was diagnosed as a form of mange. Due to an unfortunate accident (which I will not go into the details of), he died on the way home. If such is possible for a hamster, he was a friend. He died far too soon, at only a little over a year old, and he is greatly missed.
In answer to the obvious question, yes, we got another one, so more chronicles are yet to come.
