Display AK DEM data? CS 262, Spring '98 Project Review: 10 points Date Due: Friday, 4/26/96. (10) 1. Project review to be held by appointment Friday, 4/26. The reviews will be scheduled on a signup sheet in class and will consist of 20 minute conferences in the instructor's office. Points will be awarded on the basis of actual progress compared to scheduled progress. Your projects should be at least 50% complete at this time. Bring outputs, program listings, and documentation as necessary to show your work to date. No written report is required for this review. The progress points cannot be made up on the final project grade. (5) 2. Outline the project you would like to do for this class. Your proposal should contain the following parts: (a) Describe the finished project as you envision it. What will your project do and what will the output look like? (b) Identify the major functional components to be created for your project, such as program modules and subroutines. Indicate where existing programs are to be utilized. A block diagram would be an appropriate way to provide this information. (c) Sketch a project plan showing the tasks to be accomplished and the order in which you propose to do them. Estimate the number of hours required for each task. You only have four weeks. Include time for testing and documentation. (d) Identify the computer, languages and any I/O devices you will be using. Plan your proposal carefully so that you don't promise what you can't deliver. Part of your project grade will be based on how well you follow your proposal. A progress report will be required part way through to check on how well you are following your proposed schedule. See also ~cs262/project for project requirements.
