Prerequisite: CS103 or one year of high school programming or one semester of college level programming.  You must be ready to enroll in calculus.

Department policies: See www.cs.uaf.edu

Textbook: Deitel & Deitel, C++ How to Program

Grading Policy:

            Homework: 35%

            Exam 1: 20%

            Exam 2: 20%

            Final Exam: 25%

Homework:

Homework will be assigned weekly and due by 5:00 pm on the due date. All homework assignments must be turned in as hard copy - give it to me in class or put it in my mailbox (101 Chapman Hall).  Do not put assignments under my door. Late homework will not be accepted. Plagiarism or faked output will result in an F on the assignment in question, as well as possible disciplinary action from the University.

Exams:

There will be two in class exams and a comprehensive final. The dates are still to be determined, but see the back for an approximate schedule. All exams must be taken as scheduled. In particular, note that early or late final exams are contrary to the policies of the department.

Compiler and accounts:

You may use any C++ compiler you like, as long as you have the ability to print out both your source code and sample runs. You will also need to be able to send me email with your source code.  (I will not accept homework by email except in special circumstances, but this is the best way to get code to me if you want help during office hours.) I use Visual C++, which is what is installed in the department NT lab in Chapman 103.  If you wish to use the department lab, you may use the public account in Chapman 103 or sign up for a personal account.
