Nationwide Graduate Fellowships:

• The Krell Institute, in cooperation with the Department of Energy, offers Computational Science Graduate Fellowships, which have a generous stipend for graduate study.  There is also a Supercomputing program aimed at teachers.

• The Sloan Foundation has fellowships.

• The National Science Foundation has Graduate Research Fellowships.  The same application is used for the Women in Engineering (WENG) and Women in Computer and Information Science (WICS) Fellowships.

• The Department of Defense has National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowships which definitely include computation and applied math.  (You will not end up in uniform if you accept one of these--it is just one way the US government gets people to study scientific subjects of potential use to the military.)
