Internships

Internships are a great way to gain experience and contacts, earn money, and help real people with real problems. You can also earn credit for certain internships in CS 290 or CS 490 if you sign up with the department beforehand.

Summer 2006 Internships

Flint Hills refinery in North Pole is advertising for a Oracle and .NET programmer as well as an application install and desktop maintainance technician. Open to Juniors, Seniors, and Grad Students in CS.
The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation has openings for a financial modeling internship in Anchorage and a Microsoft, Sun, and Cisco networking internship in Juneau. Round trip airfare is included.
The US Department of Energy has a unified undergraduate internship application process for the US National Labs across the lower 48 states. Applicants must be US Citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens. Subjects of interest to the DOE include physical simulation, parallel programming, computer security, and large software development.
The US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has a large Conservation and Land Management Internship Program. Contrary to their website, applications actually close on March 1.
The US Department of Homeland Security has a Scholarship and Fellowship program for undergraduates and graduates who have research interests in security. Application deadline is January 31.
