Required Text: Complex Variables and Applications, by Brown and Churchill. We will cover parts of Chapters 1-10.
Prerequisites: Math 302. Note: Math 421 is NOT a prerequisite for this course.

Homework: Homework will be assigned each Friday and will
be due on the following Friday,
with the possible exception of exam weeks.
Part of each lecture will be devoted to discussion of homework problems.
NO LATE HOMEWORK WILL BE ACCEPTED. Homework shall count as 15% of your
grade. I encourage you to work together on the homework and to see
me in my office hours concerning the homework, but I expect you to write
up your solutions independently. For the assignements, see the

Midterm Exams: We shall have three midterm exams.
Exam 1 Wednesday, February 14 Chapters 1, 2 and 3
Exam 2 Friday, March 23 Chapters 4 and 5
Exam 3 Thursday, April 26 Chapters 6 and 7
If you cannot take the exam on the scheduled day you must see at
least a week before the exam day in order to discuss whether alternate
arrangements can be made. Make-up exams will only be given under extreme
circumstances. Each exam counts as 20% of your grade.
Final Exam: Our final exam will be given on Wednesday, December 20 from 8:00-10:00. It will be comprehensive and will count as 25% of your grade. Early exams will NOT be given under any circumstances.
Course Grades: Final grades will be computed on the usual scale:
A 90-100%
B 80-89%
C 70-79%
D 60-69%
However, I do reserve the right to determine borderline grades based
on the studentís performance on the final exam.
