Introduction

The UAF Department of Computer Science offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Computer Science and Software Engineering. Research interests in Computer Science include computer security, computer graphics, parallel computation, databases, artificial intelligence, software engineering, simulation, networks and computability.

We focus on solving exciting problems that improve technology across a wide range of fields.

With Computer Science, you choose how to apply your knowledge.  You can design, build and test a new computer game or apply a new algorithm to analyze the spread of an infectious disease.  You can use digital forensics technologies to catch a criminal, or apply recent advances in robotics to build a robot that can safely explore the ocean floor.  The possibilities are limitless.

To provide quality education consistent with the requirements of the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET and the recommendations of the UAF Computer Science Industry Advisory Board, which is responsive to the needs of individual students and the diverse population of Alaska.
