The UAF Department of Computer Science offers BS and MS degrees in Computer Science. Research interests of faculty include computer security, computer graphics, parallel computation, databases, artificial intelligence, robotics, simulation and computability.

We focus on solving exciting problems that improve technology across a wide range of fields.

With Computer Science, you choose how to apply your knowledge. You can design, build and test a new computer game.  You can apply a new algorithm to visualize and analyze the spread of an infectious disease. You can apply recent advances in robotics to build a robot that can safely explore the ocean floor or the surface of Mars. The possibilities are endless.

Our mission is to provide quality education consistent with the requirements of the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET and the recommendations of the UAF Computer Science Industry Advisory Board, which is responsive to the needs of individual students and the diverse population of Alaska.
